PA99 is an emerging figure in the UK music scene. Hailing from South East London, PA99 can transition between rapping and singing with ease.

Previously, PA99 went under the name PSwuave, where she steadily built up her catalogue with tracks like Move Fast. PA99 and her rapping skills were shown off throughout the song and video for Move Fast.

Move Fast was complemented by laid back and eerie production, matching the video’s cyberpunk-like visuals. The rebrand is more than a name for PA99. Her new approach to songwriting seems more refined and melodic than ever before. Last Supper sees PA99 diving into alternative R&B. A slight departure from her rap-focused singles released prior.

Last Supper is an alternative R&B song that is akin to 6LACK’s PRBLMS or SZA’s Doves in the Wind in the best way possible.

Speaking on the track, PA99 said:

Last Supper was made in response to the realisation that I needed to let go of relationships that had run their course. The creative process started off as a vocal journal entry into my notes. When I noticed it was the length of a song, it just came together and made sense to put it out.

The songs runtime is just under three minutes in length. This means Last Supper is perfect for the loop button or a playlist with other reflective or downtempo R&B songs. The track’s cloudy atmosphere conveys the feeling of a moody night’s drive through the city.

While the track does not feature PA99 rapping, her singing nothing to scoff at. PA99 and her sultry vocals bleed through the song like butter. They sound direct yet, relaxed.

“The song really just follows the mix of those emotions that comes from staying in an expired relationship. I look at how it is actually enjoyable in a mad way, which I am sure many people can resonate with. The obvious biblical reference was actually accidental, but after showing it to people, I realise it leaves more room for interpretation so, that’s pretty cool.”

When asked what her future plans for music were, PA99 said:

“The future plans are to just go with the flow and keep making music inspired by life.”

We can hopefully expect more music from PA99 soon. In the meantime, stream Last Supper on Spotify and Apple Music here.
